P17 (Galmer GT)
Very first design of P17 from 2002



P17 Started its life as an Lamborghini Diablo style car however it transformed into a unique shape over the years. Idea was transformed into 3D in 2002 from one of my late high school sketches, I do not posses the sketches anymore since I have moved more than 20 times from 1995 to 2009.

In early 2004, I redesigned P17 with similar side lines on the car but with shorter wheelbase longer front over hang distance.

The second version of P17 somewhat had weird lines and design, reminds me a little bit of Lister Storm (unintentionally looks like Lister).

In late 2005 i was contracted with Cobra International in order to manufacture the car. First version of the Cobra-Galmer GT was designed as Carbon chassis car to accommodate a 6 Cylinder Audi engine.

In 2006 February I was able to finish the preliminary design of the car in order to start engineering of the car. The chassis was engineered by Alan Mertens with some of my involvement on the design. Galmer GT was ahead of its time with ground effects and raised nose box like in Le Mans Prototypes. simply ground air was led to side inlets around the monocoque and carbon chassis were exposed on the sides as tunnels. It was a race car under a sports car skin briefly. Later on Audi 6 cylinder engine was turned into 7 liter Chevy LS7. In order to accommodate LS7 and CIMA gearbox The car had to be modified, so wheel base was stretched to 2745 mm from 2650 mm.

Design was modified again in parallel to chassis development in 2006 October.

Late 2006 Chassis manufacturing has started. Car had Carbon fiber monocoque chassis and a 4130 steel rear frame holding the gearbox and semi stressed engine.

 I have quit the project in August 2007 due to some politics at the workshop in Thailand and moved back to Turkey but I still was under Galmer Inc. Prototype was finished in 2009 and now prototype is stuck in somewhere in Belgium that is what i heard. When I left Cobra international I have forgotten to back up 2006 versions so I lost quite a bit data of P17 (pictures, 3D models, Drawings...etc) so I redesigned early 2007 car in November 2007.

In 2009 and onwards I concentrated on track version of the car rather than road versions. I made 2 track versions one based on Late 2007 model and the other one based on the 2011 design which hasn't been released, I might be releasing it if the project goes under manufacturing again.

2010 version had different bodywork and carbon fiber  monocoque but dimensions of the car was similar. Only modification I did to 2010 version was to cover the sides with a bodywork where monocoque was exposed as a reaction to Mc Laren P1... which kind of high budget rip off of P17. P17 had just shy over 200 000 USD budget so you may compare it to enormous budget of Mc Laren.
